Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is A Lump In Breast Suggestive Of Clogged Milk Duct?
I have a lump in my breast. The PA that I see thinks that it an infection in my milk duct. She has prescribed me Bactrim. I have not recently given birth (my only child is almost 11). Is it possible that my milk duct is clogged if I am not nursing?
It occurs in women who are not breastfeeding. In postmenopausal women, breast infections may be associated with chronic inflammation of the ducts below the nipple. Hormonal changes in the body can cause the milk ducts to become clogged with dead skin cells and debris.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
