Is A Lump On The Palate A Cause For Concern?

Hi Dr., I have a slight bump on the right side of the roof my mouth that I discovered this morning. I had been sick with a very bad flu and possibly the walking pneumonia for about 2 weeks total. This has been the first week that I felt I was about 98% better though still feeling fatigued. I also woke up this morning with a slight sore throat that went away quickly and I'm assuming it was cause by the dryness of my bedroom. Should I be concerned and see my Dr. or is this still just a symptom of my flu or illness?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems in case if you have been having flu since 2 weeks along with sore throat, the lump over the palate seems to be due to either inflammation secondary to infection, formation of a small abscess or can be a pyogenic granuloma..
You need not to worry as nothing seems serious..
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles atleast 2 to 3 times a day..
You can do steam inhalations..
Avoid spicy and hard foods and take a soft bland diet..
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash gargles...
The lump will resolve gradually in a week and in case of no improvement or if condition worsen consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
