Is A Mass In Right Lung As Per An X-ray Report Serious?
Hello Dr. Rynne:My 86 year-old mother recently had a chest x-ray that detected a mass in her right lung ... a bronchoscopy was performed next expecting to yield a biopsy ... much to everyone s surprise he saw nothing to biopsy! He did a washing and everything came back negative. He now wants her to have a Pet Scan ... it doesn t sound like he is convinced this isn t a malignancy. Am I reading this correctly? Thank you kindly
Hello dear Greetings Regarding your symptoms of mothers mass in the right lung after a previous scan and bronchscopic biopsy that yield negative I am suggesting possibility of a benign tumor called mesothelioma In view of this please let your physician do the pet scan to rule out malignancy Meanwhile endeavor to see a pulmonologist specialist for further expect clinical assessment and possible surgical interventional procedures Regards
