Hi,
Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

A neurosurgeon is a specialist who performs surgeries to treat conditions affecting the entire nervous system and do not require additional felloship in spine unlike an orthopedic spine surgeon who needs an additional felloship for spine
Neurosurgeons divide their surgical practice between brain surgery and spine surgery. For example, a neurosurgeon could be completing a craniotomy one day and a disc fusion the next day

but taking decision also depends upon the experience and number of procedures he has done successfully and as he said he never performs a spinal fusion before , you should opt for a more experienced neurosurgeon or Orthopedic Spine Surgeon for this kind of surgery

I hope it help
