Is A Pacemaker Advisable For A Person With Wolff Parkinson S White Syndrome?
I have Wolff Parkinson s white syndrome which causes me to pass out and have episodes that look like a seizure, and I have had two failed ablations and am now on bisoprolol 2.5mg, and it seems as if my body has become immune to the medication, and I have been told I could potentially end up with a pacemaker, is this information correct?
Treatment of WPW syndrome may be medical which just control the heart rate or Ablation. Ablation is the definitive treatment and cures the disease in almost all cases however few people may have a failed Ablation.
So your case is a rare one. Pacemaker is used for arrhythmia many times besides its multiple other uses, and though it's very rarely needed in WPW syndrome where ablation and drugs almost always achieve treatment but in rare cases if both of above fail, then a pace maker may be the only option left.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
