Is A Painful Bump On The Thigh An Insect Bite Or An Exercise Injury?
I have about a tennis ball sized bump on my inner left knee/bottom of thigh area that is painful, vtender, and pinkwhenbi touch it it hurts. Also it is hard and slightly warmer than my right, unaffected leg. I over exerted myself speed walking(I m 4 8 and 220 pounds) while walking at night. I want to know if it s an exercise injury or a bug bite from being outside at night, or a blood clot.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history you are having an abscess on thigh. My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain and swelling.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Linezolid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks.
