Is A Painful Lump On The Shin A Symptom Of A Fracture?
I slammed my shin into a solid wood pilates reformer a week ago. Bruising began in the shin, a lump formed where there was impact. It s quite sore, but my walking ability is not affected. Now discoloration and swelling have developed on both sides of my ankle, sort of like pooling of blood. I didn t get xrays, I thought it was a bad bruise. Is it possible I may have cracked my shin bone?
If imapact the impact site swelling present m means it may be a hematoma or bruising. Possible causes of ankle swelling due to venous stasis or varicose veins or lymphatic edema or bone fracture or not related to impact.
So elevate the limb, use crepe bandage and cold and warm compression. use pain killers if symptoms not improved. So you may consult your orthopedician he will examine and take x-ray of leg and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
