Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Fracture In The Hips Without An Injury?
I have a fracture hip. I have had xray and a cat scan. I get shots in my hips in the bursa. Can a shot(injection) hit the bone and cause a fracture? I have not fallen and I have no reason to have the fracture. I fell down stairs in may 2017. Could the fracture last that long? It shows healing. Please let me know if I have arthuritis through out my body. Please I am wondering how I got the fracture?? Thanks for your help.
Sometimes, it happens that minor or hairline fracture is there during falls, which goes unrecognized. Second thing is your age, older age causes bone softening and even minor injuries can lead to fracture.
Injection never causes fracture. Tell me where exactly the fracture is? Have you consulted with an orthopedic doctor after getting your x-ray done?
Hip fracture usually requires bed rest. Fractures of bones usually require 1 to 2 months to heal depending upon the site and other complications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirapa
