Is A Painless Dark Streak On The Tongue A Concern?
For several weeks now, I have noticed a dark streak on my tongue. It's completely painless, and I do brush my tongue when I brush my teeth but it hasn't helped. I noticed earlier that my tongue also seems to be sort of "scaly". What could be causing this?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painless dark streak on the tongue which could be because of enlarged filiform papillae of tongue and due to stress and certain types of food. Need not to worry. You maintain basic oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. I would suggest you to visit oral pathologist once if symptoms keep son persisting and get biopsy done by taking scrapings from tongue to rule out any oral malignancy or thrush. You should scrape tongue gently with tongue cleaner to remove debris attached to that area.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
