Is A Pus Filled Bruise On The Hand A Cause For Concern?

Hi. I have a 4 inch bruise with a white raised lump on the back of my hand, between the bones of my index and middle finger. I noticed the bruise Monday night and it has now doubled in size (to the 4 inches) with purple bruising now on both of my fingers as well. The center is white, firm to the touch but not hard. I didn t hit my hand against anything or do anything that I can recall to cause it. I have taken pictures of the bruise over the last 2 days to show the change in it. Do I need to go to the hospital?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you need to go to hospital immediately in order that a surgeon examines it and open it to drain. You may also need antibiotics in order to fight infection and stop it from spreading.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
