Is A Small Retention Cyst Noted In The Right Maximum Sinus Of An MRI Of The Brain A Concern?
Had an MRI/MRA of my brain in 2009. Findings never discussed, & I suffer, currently so badly with some memory issues. May I share these 2 findings? FINDINGS: Supraclinoid part of the right internal carotid artery is normal. There is normal appearance of the right anterior and the right middle cerebral artery. Supraclinoid part of the left internal carotid artery is normally seen. The left anterior and left middle cerebral arteries appear normal. Basilar artery tip is normally seen. There is mild tortuosity of vertebral basilar artery with no focal narrowing. Posterior cerebral arteries appear normal. Posterior communicating trunks are hypoplastic. & MRI FINDINGS: Ventricular system is normal. Extraventricular subarachnoid spaces are normally visualized. Basal ganglia internal capsule and thalamic region could be normally visualized. Two small nonspecific foci of demyelination are seen. One is located in subcortical white matter of the left frontal lobe and another one in right mid brain. The pons and parenchyma of cerebellum could be normally visualized. No abnormal gadolinium enhancement is seen. Diffusion weighted imaging study is normal. Sella has normal size. No extraaxial pathology demonstrated. Small retention cyst noted in right maximum sinus.
A retention cyst of the right maxillary sinus is a completely benign finding and no treatment is needed.
Regarding the foci of demyelination, it can be a change due to advancing age in some individuals. Since your age is not known to me, therefore, it is difficult to give an accurate reply on the possible differential diagnosis of the findings.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
