Is A Spotty Period A Sign Of Perimenopause?

I m 44 yrs old & have had a spotty period for over a month. This is not normal for me. My regular cycle is usually very heavy for 2 days then hardly anything for 3 days. Should I see my O.B? Any major concerns? She has said that she thought I could be in peri menopause for a few years.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Single episode of spotty period can be or can not be a sign of peri-menopause, but if persistent over period of subsequent 4-6 months, then it is a must sign of the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
