Is A Sudden Onset Of Memory And Recognition Issues A Concern?

My sister-in-law is acting very strange. Yesterday night her husband said that she was repeating the names of her family members to herself. Today she was at work and a co-employee noticed she was acting strange. A family member called her and she would not believe it was who they said they were. When the paramedics got there she was asking them if she is black. She seems to be having trouble remembering who she is. Her mother, my wife, and her husband are now at the emergency room with her. She does not use drugs and she is a very strong woman. Recently she turned forty. Do you have any idea what might be going on? If you have a few moments to console me I would really appreciate it. I did not go as I did not want to complicate matters--it was agreed that this was for the best.

Psychologist 's  Response
Hello,

As your sister in law does not have any other health problems or family history of psychiatric illness, there may not be anything to worry. Depletion of some chemicals (like sodium) in the body can cause weird symptoms. Tests will identify the depleted chemical and corrective action will be taken. Do not worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
