My wife was was blessed with bad teeth. She recently had several pulled , but still has a few bad ones. That being said, she just recently was diagnosed with an ear infection. She let it go to the point of hearing loss and fever. She is a very stubborn woman. I was just rubbing the back of her head and noticed swelling at the bottom of her skull on the same side and also felt and mastoid is swollen as well! I realize the seriousness of this, but she continues to shrug it off, am I correct in my concern?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The swelling at the back of the head may be soft tissue lesion as reactionary lymph node enlargement from the previous ear infection, sebaceous cyst, bony growth or else. She must get examined by her family doctor and get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
