Is Abdominal Pain Post Food Intake Suggestive Of Strained Muscles?

Hello, I was involved in some strenuous activity 4 days ago. Since then, I have had pain in my abdomen that has gradually gotten better day by day. The pain gets worse after I have eaten. I can t lay on my stomach. There is no pain while sitting. Some pain when standing. No fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or missed BM s. Urine is normal in color. I am thinking it is strained abdominal muscles causing my discomfort. Please help! Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi. Sorry to hear about the problem.
Strenuous exercise can cause production of lactic acid that accumulates in the muscle cells. This accumulation of lactic acid causes pain in the muscle. Over the time this lactic acid is dissolved and the pain subsides. So all you need to do is stay assured and get some rest. It will go in a few days. After eating a meal/while standing/ laughing, muscles of the belly are stretched causing pain. So there is nothing to panic about. Stay relaxed. If you are to bothered by pain, you can take a tablet of paracetamol SOS.
take care.
Regards.
