General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Abortion by means of pills can be done when the pregnancy is less than 12 weeks. It is advisable to be done under medical supervision.
Bleeding typically occurs 2-5 hours after using misoprostol and usually slows down within 24 hours. Bleeding could be associated with abdominal pain and cramps.
If you do not start bleeding within 4 hours of taking misoprostol, you should apply another 2 tablets.
If you still do not bleed within 24 hours and you are positive that you were pregnant, then you either have an ectopic pregnancy or a continuing pregnancy. You should get an ultrasound scan done immediately and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
