Is Accidental Consumption Of Calamine Lotion By Children A Cause For Concern?
I turned my back and my 3-year old had a bottle of calamine lotion unscrewed. I asked him if he swallowed any and he said no (and his mouth didn t contain any calamine lotion residue nor did it smell like calamine lotion), but I am still concerned in case he did.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Accidental consumption of calamine lotion by children can cause digestive upset and may lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In some cases, it can also cause serious health problems. If your child has consumed a significant amount of calamine lotion, it is advisable to seek medical attention immediately. If you are unsure or have concerns, it is always best to consult a doctor or a poison control center for advice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
