Is Accumulation In The Bilateral Lacrimal And Parotid Glands Consistent With Sarcoidosis A Serious Concern?
I had a galliun scan done to look for inflammation and sarcoidosis. The resuls came in and the doctor reviewing the scan stated The hepatic parenchyma is identified within the right chest, secondary to an elevated right hemidiaphram whic was also identified on a CT study done 11/2/17. There is radiotracer accumulation in the bilateral lacrimal and parotid glands consistant with sarcoidosis in the appropriate clinical setting. Can you explain these results?

Is Accumulation In The Bilateral Lacrimal And Parotid Glands Consistent With Sarcoidosis A Serious Concern?
Hello, The CT scan shows the presence of a multi-organ disease called sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is characterized by enlarged hilar lymph node, elevated serum ACE levels and elevated urine calcium. Since the disease is multiorgan i.e. involving multiple organs, various treatment modalities are followed to treat the condition. You need to consult your physician for treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
