Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandson suggested adenoidectomy.he is of 3 years.it is at 4th stage. He breath by mouth.what are the side effects after surgery and whether it is necessary to have adenoidectomy. If this surgery is avoided at this stage ,what will be the future health problems to be faced by the kid.
I can understand your concern. Adenoids are lymphoid tissues that are present in the fetus and new born children. However, as the child ages, the tissues decrease in size until they disappear.
However, sometimes they do not shrink or decrease in size and persist in children causing problems such as breathing problems, mouth breathing, sinus issues and problems in tooth development.
Thus, as your child still has adenoids, they need to be removed surgically to prevent and treat all the above mentioned issues. The surgery is not complicated and the ENT surgeons are experts in performing such surgical procedure.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your son feels better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
