Azithromycin is the safest and effective drug to fight against bacterial infection. It does not have any direct interactions with alcohol. Intake of moderate amount of alcohol while on the medicine can be considered, without any serious side effects.
Certain other antibiotics has high cross interactions with alcohol resulting in more severe reactions. This won't happen with Azithromycin as the treatment course is short.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
