Is Althea Pill A Better Choice Than Yasmin Pill And Metformin For Treating PCOS?
I have PCO. My OB two years ago gave me yasmin pills and metformin. But for some reason I stopped last year. Just this month, I was diagnosed with PCO again and my current OB gave me Althea and metformin. I m just wondering if Althea pills is a better choice?
Hello Althea is a low dose oral contraceptive with antiandrogenic properties ,as in PCO serum testosterone and androstenedione levels raised . As ALTHEA play an important role in PCO ( the good choice for the treatment of PCO). While YASHMIN is drospirenone+ethinyl estardiol and also play an important role in the treatment of PCO . Metformin is also an important drug for PCO ( also anti diabetic drug). In your case 2 years back your doctor prescribed yasmin , while this time althrea . It doses not matter which is a good drug as both are equally effective so it depends upon your treating which drug he like to prescribe . So with full confidence take these drugs ( althea + metformin ) till your doctor advise. Good luck
