Is An IUD A Good Birth Control Option While Suffering From Bipolar Disorder?

I am wondering about if the IUD is a good birth control option because I am BiPolar2 and more on the depression than mania. Have genital herpes and HPV the kind that causes cervical cancer and I had warts but had acid treatments to remove them I had my son almost 19 months ago but had a c-section because he was frank breech. I wanted to see about best option for me since I don t want any more children yet and condoms are okay but just want extra protection.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

IUDs are one of the best birth control methods. They are more than 99% effective. That means fewer than 1 out of 100 people who use an IUD will get pregnant each year. So, I do recommend them as a contraception method.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
