Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is An MRI Necessary To Find The Cause Of Low Tone Hearing Loss?
I have been diagnosed with low tone hearing loss . I have a sound of the ocean in my left ear most of the time as well as some discomfort. The ENT can find no reason for this and wants me to have an MRI. Is this necessary ? Hearing in my right ear is normal.
MRI is required to rule out any possible central causes for hearing loss. Nothing much to worry and your treatment is in the right track. Sometimes lesions or problems in the brain leads to similar symptoms and MR is necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
