Is An MRI Scan Needed Before Considering Knee Replacement Surgery?

I have pain in my right knee on extension when walking I ve had 6 surgeries 5 from 90-96 and 1 in 2004.Both meniscus and complete realignment then after surgery the leg froze so they did a manipulation to get movement started. There have been 2 cleanups afterward. I m 55 and feel I need a complete knee replacementI m in great shape 6ft 215lb and athletic. Is it best to get an mri before seeing the ortho on my 1st appointment?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience of a frozen knee following 3 previous knee surgery i am suggesting yes you can do the MRI test prior to your appointment with the orthopedic specialist in order to match diagnostic test with his clinical assessment
Meanwhile the option of considering knee replacement surgery is a definitive treatment rather than going back for revision surgery
I hope this helps
Regards
