Is An MRI Scan Test Safe For A Person With Stents?
I have two titanium/nickle medicine eluding stents in my heart and am scheduled to have an MRI and will be in the machine for 1 hour. Will the MRI interfere with my stents and move them ? Should I have the MRI or find another option look at the pain in my neck?
Hello. I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Titanium and nickel alloy is called nitinol and is nonferromagnetic material which will not be affected by magnetic resonance during MRI. There is no concern associated with MR related heating in nonferromagnetic stents, so relax.
It would be nice if you inform the radiologist about your stent, when you go for taking the test. That would make it more easy for both patient and radiologist. Good luck. Hope your concern is answered. Thank You.
