Is An Antibiotic Necessary For Inflamed Lipoma?

I have a lipoma on my back that became inflamed and tender about two weeks ago and my primary physician scheduled an appt to have it removed this Wednesday. It has become extremely tender in the past couple of days and I suspect it is infected. Should I just be patient and wait for the surgery or should I be taking an antibiotic, and if so, what is the best choice of antioniotic?

Thank you very much for contacting healthcare magic.

You have infected lipoma. Start antibiotics under doctor's suggestion. Complete the course of antibiotics.

After infection subcide you can plan for surgery.
Before surgery check your total CBC.
Consent a physician for further treatment.

I hope my guidance is helpful to you.
