Is An Extra Dosage Of Cetirizine Harmful For A Child?

My son takes a allergy med. only when he needs, per instructions from his dr. He is to take 1 teaspoon. I usually have only 1 teaspoon syringes, but tonight I crabbed a 2tspm syringe. And didn t realize it until after I have given him his med. will be be ok....I pray so...the med was cetirizine 1 mg

I can understand your concern. I would have been helpful if you had mentioned the age and weight of your child as medicines and its doses in children depend most on the age and weight.

However, one teaspoon extra dose may not cause overdose of the medicine and could be tolerated by your kid. You do not need to rush to emergency care if your son is stable and comfortable. If he develops symptoms like excessive irritability, restlessness followed by drowsiness, then you need to seek emergency care for these are the symptoms of the overdose of the Cetrizine.
