Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
This ? is for my daughter Her due date was Fri 22nd her last apt. Thurs. 20th the ambiotic fluid was at 4 the previous apointment it was at 6 she does not want to be induced the dr said she isnt leaking fluid. She figures her due date as the first week of Oct. As the date of conception was Jan 5th. The stress test and ultrasound are normal. But because of her age 38 her dr. wants to induce her. Is it nessecary?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since the maternal age is high, it is better to induce early to avoid complications. If we prolong the labor to due date, it may lead to complications like fetal distress and may end up in caesarean section. Induction is a safe procedure and nothing much to worry about it.
Thanks.
