Is An Ovoid Mass In The Dorsal Subcutaneous Fat Of The Proximal Forearm A Concern?
My report from an MRI states: Visualized marrow signal is unremarkable. There is an ovoid mass in the dorsal subcutaneous fat of the proximal forearm. This is not of fatty signal intensity. It is of heterogeneous signal intensity on T1 and to a greater degree T2 sequences. It is generally mildly hyperintense to muscle on T1-weighted sequences. The rim of the mass and a few internal striations are of increased T2 signal. These areas enhance. The remainder of the mass does not enhance. There is a thin plane of fat interposed between the mass and the underlying muscle and there are slight mass effect on the underlying muscle. The mass measures 2.4 x 1 x 1.9 cm in size. What does this mean in lay terms?
