Is Anal Bleeding A Symptom Of A Ruptured Haemorrhoid?
About 5 days ago I had severe constipation and had a large hard bowel movement. At that time I also passed a large amount of blood. I was told I had a heroic after having a colonoscopy. I have noticed bleeding in the rectum area. I will feel like a sweaty wet and when I wipe with toilet paper I notice it is bloody. I am worried about infection. I also feel like the heroic May have ruptured ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bleeding do occur with hemorrhoids, even if does not rupture. We have rarely heard of it's rupturing but they do bleed off and on. I personally refer such patients to a surgeon for assessment that would see and can decide upon further management i.e. some creams apply locally or sometimes surgery if it falls on high grade.
The continuous blood loss may reduce your blood level and that can cause problems. So, I would advise you to take some iron preparation and talk to your surgeon about the definite management of the hemorrhoids. The management of hemorrhoids would depend on the grade of it and one other important thing is you must avoid constipation by using more fibers.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
