Is Anesthesia Safe For A Cocaine User?

I am a daily cocaine user, but stopped using on Wednesday, June 15. I m scheduled for a Septoplasty, Turbinate Reduction Uvulectomy, and Excision of a posterior lymph node on Monday, June 20. Is it safe to go under anesthesia? I have been drinking plenty of water and vinegar with hopes that it will be flushed out.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In different trials, it has been proved that Cardiovascular stability during and after general anesthesia in cocaine positive, non-toxic patients was not significantly different when compared with a drug-free control group.

So cocaine abusing patients can be administered general anesthesia without any significant risk.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
