Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother had a bypass heart surgery July. She had a mild stroke to the left side. Recovering well but slow. Medical team wants to put her under anesthesia to insert cameras to find d cause of some blood in her stool now. Should we allow this procedure with the risks. She is at a Specialty hospital at this time recovering?
1. The blood in stool could be due to some other pathology but right now my opinion is that it could also be because of anticoagulants. [which she is recieving]
2. to look for the source of blood, the procedure is safe under regional anesthesia but your attending surgeon/anesthetist are in good position to look into the matter.
