Is Anti-rabies Vaccination Necessary 7 Months Post Dog Bite?
Hi. I was just wondering, I was bitten by our dog like seven months ago but though the wound is small it bled and I felt pain. I did not get any vaccine because our dog has just been recently vaccinated. I m worried cos my friends say that I better have vaccine to make sure. My question is, can I still get vaccinated even though the wound is healed? do I have to get HRIG?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. If it is already 7 months after dog bite and your dog is doing fine then there is no need for vaccination. Vaccination is given within 24 hours of dog bite. If it is later then immunoglobulin is given according to severity.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
