General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I understand your concern.

Anyone who has been bitten by an animal, or who otherwise may have been exposed to rabies, should see a doctor immediately. Normally, rabies vaccine is given to people at high risk of rabies to protect them if they are exposed. It can also prevent the disease if it is given to a person after they have been exposed. The treating doctor determines if you need to be vaccinated. I would like to ask you if the animal that bite you was a home or street puppy? Was it diagnosed with rabies or is it dead?
Since your doctor didn't consider that it was necessary for applying anti rabies vaccine and immunoglobulins, and since you do not have any symptoms, I don't think it is necessary to do the vaccine at this moment.
Anti Tetanus vaccine is a vaccine for a different infectious agent, and it doesn't provide you protection against rabies, but against tetanus.

Hope I answered to your question. For further concerns feel free to ask again.

Take Care,
Dr. Ina Zaimi
