Is Antibiotic Treatment Needed For Persistent Cough, Nasal Congestion And Fever?

6 days ago a deep unproductive cough started, but I felt ok except for a daily headache. Yesterday fevers of 101+ started , and this morning the fevers continued and it went to my sinuses in the form of congestion sneezing, as well as the cough. Do I need an antibiotic? thank you

Hi,

After reading your post, I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by your doctor before starting an antibiotic. Take paracetamol for relief from fever and an antihistamine like Levocetrizine for sneezing and dry cough. A Complete Blood Count (CBC) along with a clinical evaluation by your doctor will help in planning your further medical management.

I hope this is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. R A Singh
