Is Any Other Treatment Necessary For Bumps On The Tragus Than Advil?

hi i got my tragus pierced fathers day weekend and everything was nice and sterile. The piercer was professional etc. I ve been cleaning my piercing twice a day with saline solution and a q tip. However, i bumped it twice last week on accident and its been really swollen. I ve taken advil to help but is there anything else i should do?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The swelling can be reduced by ice compressions over the area. Advil will control the pain. The swelling along with pain should go down within a week. Keep the area sterile with the current measures.

However, if the swelling increases instead of decreasing, pain increases, redness and warmth develops over swelling or if you develop fever, then you need to visit a physician as these are the signs of infection. In addition, you may have to get the earring removed in that case.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you recover soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
