Is Aortic Dissection A Risk In Taking A Slow Speed Amusement Ride?

I have aortic dissection of 4.8cm. I am a single mom taking my two kids to Disney this summer and my son (and I) are total adrenaline junkies. I know that some of the more extreme rides such as expedition Everest or Rock n Roller Coaster are on the list of no-go rides, and that alone about breaks my heart, but what about things like Space Mountain? yes there is a health warning on the ride, but it only goes about 20 MPH and it doesn t go upside down, backwards etc. Am I just having some wish fulfillment thinking here? Or would it really be ok?

Hello,

Any activities that cause adrenaline rush and elevate blood pressure is to be avoided in patients with Aortic dissection to avoid complications. Generally, it is best to avoid amusement park rides. However, if you are certain that the ride goes pretty slow without any sudden increase in speed or any activity that could elevate your heart rate or blood pressure, then it may be fine. However, I would recommend that it is best to avoid the ride if at all possible.
