Is Arthroplasty Advisable For Knuckles In Fingers?

I went to the doctor because I thought I had another trigger finger that needed surgery, but the doctor told me it wasn t a trigger finger on this one, it was the tendon and that it would have to have surgery and be rebuilt in the knuckle, my question is, how successful is this type of surgery and should I have use of all my fingers after it is done? He said it would have to be wrapped together with my two other fingers for about 3 weeks.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Knuckle arthroplasty is safe and very effective for pain relief and improved mobility. It's mainly indicated for stiff and deformed finger joints due to rheumatoid arthritis but can also be done in other types of arthritis. So you can visit hand surgeon nearby you and get yourself examined. After surgery protection in splint will be required for few weeks. That depends on post surgery protocol and your body response to surgery. All the best.
