Is Back Pain Radiating To The Lower Leg A Symptom Of Neuropathy?
Can neuropathy cause pain that s about a 7-8/10? My pain in located in the front of my right lower leg. Yesterday I thought it was sciatic nerve pain but I m not so sure now. My symptoms began two days ago. The pain rain down the back of my upper leg, under my knee and around to the front of my Lower leg. I need the pain to stop. It is nauseatingly painful at its worst. I have heat wrapped with an ace wrap to hold it in place and I m keeping it elevated. When I try to go to bed it wakes me up throbbing.
Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have read your question and here is my advice.
Sorry to hear of your pain .
Yes it looks like a neuropathic pain.
The distribution is classical one where a nerve is trapped in the back .
The pain can be as severe as is yours .
I understand the intensity of the pain , but mostly its not serious .So this time you need more stronger pain killer for this.
Besides the heat application .So I would advise you should see the ER just to get an X-ray of back done and you may need physiotherapy and more stronger pain killer .Sometimes MRI may be needed .
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
