Hello,

Bacterial endocarditis is caused by infection of the valves of the heart. Infection of valves can occur due to the disease of valves, congenital heart disease, artificial valves, etc.

There is a risk of developing bacterial endocarditis. As a preventive measure, the child must be given antibiotic cover before any kind of surgical procedure. I suggest you follow up regularly with the cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
