Is Barley Water Effective In The Treatment Of Polyhydramnios During Pregnancy?
Hi, i am in 29th week of pregnancy and my AFI is 21.I had undergone GD test and shown negative. Eventhough my Gynec suggested me not to take sugar.I would like to known natural methods for controlling Polyhydromnios instead of medical procedures.Can you suggest me whether Barley water helps me in this case?Is it safe to take in third Trimester?Please advise.

Barley water can be taken to reduce the amniotic fluid level. However, barley can also rarely induce uterine contraction. So it should be used with caution after 34 weeks of pregnancy only. There is no absolute guarantee that barley will reduce polyhydramnios. So she should regularly follow up with her Obgyn and undergo serial ultrasound evaluation to assess the pregnancy and fetal status.Also, restrict sugar intake as recommended. If she notice any pain while drinking barley, discontinue it.
