Hi I am 12 weeks pregnant. Although I have had some constipation, I went to the loo today, had a bowel movement which was totally fine BUT when I wiped, there were black specks all over the paper?? Not coffee grounds but black specks (almost like sand?) Is this dangerous? Im worried about the health of the baby :( Very stressed out about this as Ive never seen it before.
Usually during pregnancy, the woman is prescribed iron tablets. Iron makes the stools black. You need not worry about it.
However, if you are not on iron, it indicated you are bleeding in the stomach or upper intestines. You should report this to your doctor. If you are having acidity or peptic ulcer or worms, black stools is a classic feature. Please take medicines for worms.
I hope this will guide you from required action.
