Is Bleeding After Menstruation Post Delivery Normal?
Hello Doctor, I m 32 yrs old. I d emergency caesarean on 22/06/16 for my 1st newborn. My baby is exclusively on breastfeed. On 29/07/16 I had my 1st period and had bleeding for continuous five days(My pattern of bleeding before childbirth is only 3 days). From 7th July till 9th, I had white discharge without any odor. But from yesterday onwards I m having fresh red bleeding more like day 1 of menstural bleeding. Is this normal? This upsets me a lot. From puberty I never use to have irregular periods. Please do help me to better understand my situation.
* As per the routine protocol usually a breastfeeding mom does not get menses until the feeding is going on due to negative feedback inhibition system pathway affecting the hypothalamus gland secretions with some exceptional variations.
* If persistent heavy bleeding, one may consult her OBGY otherwise a single of such issue does not indicate significant issue to be worried.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
