Is Bleeding In Ear Be Normal Post Removal Of Wax?

I went to the doctors today and I had wax build up. They flushed it with warm water and got the wax out but now my ear was bothering me (itching, aching) so I stuck my little pinkie finger in and wiggled it to stop the itch and noticed my ear was bleeding!!! Is this normal??

Hi

If the blood was fresh then the bleed was most probably caused by your finger or nail, which means there was no damage or injury caused by the procedure. In such a scenario, I would recommend you use antibiotic ear drops as lodging anything into the ear canal can result in various infections.

Avoid lodging anything into your ear and meet your doctor for a prescription if possible. For now, avoid using ear buds and place a sterile cotton ear piece for a day or so.

Best wishes.
