Is Bleeding, Soft Scab On Neck Due To Puppy Scratch A Cause For Concern?

Hi yesterday my new puppy got scared of the vacuum when I was holding him and he scratched a mole of my neck. It started bleeding and now a day later half of it feels like a scab whilst the other half feels soft and weepy. Should I go get it checked out?

Hello,

Following measures are of paramount importance in puppy bite with bleeding:
- Immediate wound cleaning with copious amount of fresh water
- Sterile dressing with Neosporin or else
- Tetanus toxoid in form of dTap if there was no shot within last 10 years
- Discuss need of Anti rabies shots with your primary care provider

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
