Is Blood Discharge From Breast A Sign Of Breast Cancer?
My 86 year old mother told me today she had a drop of blood come out of her nipple. She squeezed it and another drop came out. She has no personal history of breast cancer, lumps of any kind, nor a family history. Also, she had a mammogram about 3 months ago which was normal (as have been mammograms throughout her entire life.) She currently has a cold and she feels it is related to an infection "in her system." I told her that's not good enough of an explanation and she needs to call her gynecologist immediately, which she's going to do today. Is this blood a sign of breast cancer?
