Hello doctor my name is Apple and I am 34 years old and my question is about blood donation and breastfeeding. My 17 month old son still breastfeeds and I have a friend who is in desperate need of a blood donation my milk supply is not as abundant as before so I was wondering if blood donation will affect my breast milk supply because of course my son is my priority but I also would like to help my friend.I am torn. I would really appreciate your time. Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. If your blood haemoglobin levels are normal and you are healthy there is no problem in blood donation.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
