Is Blood From The Nose Related To Heart Or Some Kind Of Infection?

Even thought I m only 51 I ve had several heart attacks. The last two days I ve woken up my throat feels like something been like draining in it. Even though my nose isn t completely stopped up. When I blow it the right side is full of blood lots of it but its not like fresh its and this is gross but wet clumps of it. I just wondered if this has to do with my heart or some kind of infection. Thanks so much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In general, a nosebleed is not a symptom of high blood pressure. It is possible but rare, that severe high blood pressure may worsen or prolong bleeding if you have a nosebleed.

Some causes of nosebleeding are damage to the nasal mucosa, infection, rhinitis, medication hemophilia, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
