Is Blood Glucose Level Of 136 A Cause For Concern?
I have sarcoidosis and have been on Prednisone for over 2 months, starting at 40mg, now on 30. They just took a glucose blood test and it shows 136, It has been 80-100 for years. I am trying to get off of the prednisone, will my glucose return to normal?
Hi Incomplete result, is it fasting or post prandial??? If it is fasting it is high. Corticosteroids like Prednisone can increase the blood glucose as its one of the side effects. This level is reversible is reversible upon discontinuing Prednisone. So, consult your treating rheumatologist/physician to prescribe an alternate drug for the treatment of sarcoidosis. Hope this will help.
