Is Blood In Saliva While On Steroids For Consistent Cough A Cause For Concern?

Tonight I was reclining in bed playing on my tablet when suddenly I had a distinct taste of blood/metal. I went to the bathroom and spit out bloody salva/mucous. It was rather pink but not red but was definitely blood. After spitting in the sink about 10 times it was gone.... I tried to cough and see if it happened again but it did not. I also had a feeling of being a little dizzy or lightheaded. This feeling, along with the taste of blood, has happened about 2-3 times over the last 18-24 months but this is the first time I actually saw blood. A few facts to help with your opinion.....I am a smoker, not heavy but smoke regularly. I was recently sick (within the last 2 weeks) with a respiratory infection and took antibiotics, steroids and Rx cough meds. The cough has been lingering a little but is getting better. My doctor said I was not wheezing but had coarse breathing ....hence the steroids. I always have back and shoulder pain due to musculoskeletal problems. I did not have any abdominal pain or discomfort prior to this happening.
